Accommodation way above expectations, and they were pretty high... You can immediately relax into your holiday when you stay in this wonderful cottage. Food & Drink
As Starfish Accommodation cottages are located right in the centre of town, so you are only a short stroll away from all the local amenities Budleigh has to offer, including a number of convenience stores for your staples, a grocers, butchers, heath food store, chemists and off-licences. Also scattered around town and along marine parade next to the beach are many cafés, restaurants, pubs and take-aways. Plenty to keep everyone's tummy's fed without even needing to get in the car and drive anywhere! Here are just a few of our favourite food and drink outlets...

Pubs, restaurants and cafésBudleigh itself has two pubs in town and one on the outskirts, a wealth of cafés including three along the beach, as well as a handful of restaurants which are also open in the evening including an Italian and Indian.
DISTANCE: Just a wander up the High Street or down to the beach!

Takeaways and groceriesIn Budleigh itself we have a Fish and Chip shop, Chinese Takeaway and Indian Takeaway, but there are also plenty of takeaways in Exmouth who will deliver here for a small additional charge.
For your self-catering groceries we have the Co-op, Spar and Tesco in town as well as some independent shops including a green grocer, a butcher, deli and health food shop. DISTANCE: Just around the corner on the High Street.

Local Attractions
Budleigh town and this area of Devon is set within the East Devon Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and so boasts some of the most beautiful countryside in the UK to explore on the road by car or public transport, or by bike, horse or on foot through the woodlands and heathlands open to the public. And not forgetting we are just on the edge of the South West Coastal Footpath too! Budleigh's quaint high street offers many independent shops from gift shops to galleries, clothes shops to barbers, hairdressers, beauty salons and more. There are also numerous attractions to go and visit without having to travel too far from your holiday home-from-home. Here are some of our favourite things to do in the area...

The Pebblebed Heaths - The CommonsThe East Devon Pebblebed Heaths are located just inland from Budleigh Salterton. A walk, mountain bike ride, or horse ride over the commons provides some excellent views of the Exe estuary, the coastline and the surrounding Devon countryside. A perfect place for that dog walk each day!

Fairlynch MuseumBudleigh Salterton's Arts Centre and Museum has been celebrating East Devon's heritage in a beautiful thatched cottage by the sea for over 50 years.
The Museum is noted for its collection of period costumes, its many geological specimens and its excellent local history resources. DISTANCE: A few minutes walk away.

Otterton MillThe historic working watermill at Otterton is set beside the River Otter in one of Devon's most beautiful coastal valleys, attracting visitors year round from all over the world. Experience the ancient traditions of flour milling and bread baking, visit the art gallery and craft shop, purchase some delicious local produce or simply enjoy eating it in the lovely cafe-restaurant. During summer months, there are also live music events in the courtyard, not to be missed!

Bicton Park Botanical GardensA short drive up the road is the award winning World Heritage Botanical Gardens open to the public all year round. Enjoy over 60 acres of beautiful gardens with sweeping lawns, elegant water features, fragrant English borders & formal gardens.
FOR THE CHILDREN: Enjoy nature trails, a train ride, play areas, mini golf, a maze and more. DISTANCE: 2.8 miles door to door.

World of Country LifeDevon's award-winning all-weather family day out. A full day of animals, museums, play areas and entertainment. Location: Sandy Bay in Exmouth.
FOR THE CHILDREN: Walk a goat or hand feed the deer & llama. Watch the daily Ferrets Total Wipeout or the Hawkridge Bird of Prey display. Clamber around the Pirate Ship play area, Harry the Harvester or crawl all over our 3 different soft-play zones. DISTANCE: 3.8 miles door to door.

Beaches Nearby
We think you may have got the idea by now that we are on the coast! ;-) so there are many beaches to explore around the locality, mostly open to the public with free access but also a few good privately owned ones we wanted to mention, which are based within the caravan parks nearby. These do require entrance/car park charges, please check their own websites for more information. Here are some suggestions...

BudleighFeatures: Pebble beach, River Otter estuary and wetland, beach huts, no lifeguard.
Good for: Families, couples, sunbathing, sea swimming, sea fishing, kayaking, paddle boarding, pebble building. A great place to see the sunset or sunrise any time of the year! Dogs not allowed on the middle section during the summer months, but allowed at either end. Please refer to signs along the beach. Facilities: 3 cafés, skate park, play park, large pay & display car park, outside shower, public toilets, paddle boarding and kayak hire during the summer months on good weather days, see Budleigh Paddle Sports DISTANCE: Just a couple of minutes stroll from your door!
